Bhakti Instruments
Wooden sitaras have six to 14 strings. The wooden body is very sturdy and gives a rich, depth to the sound. It is heavier than a guitar or gourd sitara. This one is made from monkey pod wood. Also shown here are the mechanical tuning heads, a wonderfull easy way to tune.
Priced at $2,000-$2,600
![]() This sitara has wooden tuning pegs, like traditional Indian instruments. The faceplate is a very lightweight, but strong wood called Port Orford Cedar. The sound holes are made of carved ebony wood in the shape of an OM symbol and inlaid into the face plate.
