Dulcimers

The traditional dulcimer was made for Appalachian music and had only a limited amount of frets. Our design has full chromatic fretting to acomodate any style of music and is louder than the traditional dulcimer. We also fit ours with a sitar bridge giving them a unique Indian sound. It is opened tuned with double first strings played together for added volume. it uses guitar strings throughout.

This insrtument is completely carved out of one piece of gorgeous monkey pod wood, making it very sturdy. Each end is adorned with a lovely birds head, making it as much of an art piece as it is an instrument.

It can be comfortably played on the lap and has a sweet voice. This dulcimer is well suited for vocal accompaniment, light chordal style music and even open tuned tamboura style droning.
